4.The Deadly Eruption of Lake Nyos

Lake Nyos is a volcanic crater located in the northwest of Cameroon. It regularly emits a cloud of invisible carbon dioxide gas. On August 21, 1986, the lake erupted and released about 1.6 million tons of carbon dioxide, which landed in nearby villages. All the air was removed, killing 1,746 people and 3,500 livestock.
