Lotte World Tower

HISTORY

As Korea’s crown jewel, Lotte World Tower stands on a diagrid structure whose name is derived from that of its developer and owner, the Lotte Group, which also owns the nearby recreation complex. Both are important tourist destinations in Seoul.

In stark contrast to the mountainous city, the building’s gentle curvature and light color palette draw inspiration from Korean ceramics.. We can expect all the perks of a super-tall tower, like offices, retail space, and a fancy hotel, but there’s also a new type of functional space unique to Korea: “officetels”..An officetel combines living and working space in a single building, similar to a studio apartment.
