45 Abandoned Places all over the World which Are Eerily Beautiful
Balaklava Submarine Base, Crimea
A Cold War-era Soviet submarine base, nothing to see here. Under Balaklava, the Crimean city famous for Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s narrative poem “Charge of the Light Brigade,” is a structure covered in 56 meters of concrete and filled with once-empty tunnels for Cold War weapons.. There have been tours of the abandoned base since it was abandoned around 1993
Hartley Mauditt, England
It appears that St.. A charming but average-looking building stands by a pond in East Hampshire called Leonard’s Church. The site is all that is left of Hartley Mauditt, an abandoned village at least a millennium old. It was a modest hamlet consisting of farmland and about a dozen houses, and its manor house was demolished in the 18th century.. Only the stone church remained after the rest of the buildings were demolished, along with a few ghost stories, of course.
