45 Abandoned Places all over the World which Are Eerily Beautiful
St. George’s Church, Czech Republic
The original construction of St. Benedict’s Church began in 1352.. The history of St. George’s Church in Luková is quite fascinating. In 1968, part of the roof partially collapsed during a funeral service at the church, which had nearly been destroyed by fire several times over the centuries. This led the congregation to believe that the church was haunted (we understand) and refuse to enter; as a result, the building was stripped of its contents and vandalized.. All that changed in 2012, when a student at the University of West Bohemia had an idea to attract visitors back to the church: 30 ghost sculptures sitting in the pews and bowing their heads. Visitors today flock to the ghost church to take pictures and even sit among the unseen specters while praying (so far, there are no signs the installation will be removed).
Michigan Central Station, Detroit
Its once bustling business district has been reduced to ghostly remains as the city recovers economically. After Michigan Central Station officially opened in 1914, hundreds of trains passed through it every day. However, rail traffic diminished over time, and the station struggled for several decades before closing in 1988.
