45 Abandoned Places all over the World which Are Eerily Beautiful

Anping Tree House, Taiwan

Originally a British-owned merchant warehouse, this crumbling complex in Tainan City has been overtaken by nature—much to our visual delight. When the warehouse was abandoned in the late 19th century, a nearby banyan tree sprouted through the brick walls and concrete floors, creating a “treehouse” that resembled Angkor Wat in childhood. There is even an elevated walkway to help visitors navigate the whimsical site.

New York State Pavilion, Queens

Two World’s Fairs have taken place at Queens’ Flushing Meadows–Corona Park: one in 1939 and one in 1964.. A number of the buildings and pavilions were demolished after the second fair closed. If you have ever landed at LaGuardia, you might have seen a few of them unknowingly from the window of your plane. The New York State Pavilion, a UFO-shaped structure with three observation towers surrounding it, is among the most famous standing landmarks across the city in addition to the 12-story Unisphere. Despite not being used anymore, the pavilion proudly displays the futuristic themes of bygone World’s Fairs
