Classic timeless: Top 20 Greatest American Muscle Cars
16. 1965 Pontiac Catalina 2+2
As the larger sibling of the Pontiac GTO, this car was made in America from 1964 to 1967 and came with special exterior badging. Pontiac dropped the Catalina name for the 1965 model year. A 6.9 liter engine powered the model, while heavy-duty front springs and dual exhausts were included. In 1986, a new aerobody coupe made its debut, and only 1,225 units were produced.
15. 1970 Oldsmobile 442
First released in 1964, the Olds 442 was produced through 1987, but the 1970 edition is among the most popular due to its hyphenated badging between 4-4-2.
The 1970 was undeniably the “peak of performance” from Oldsmobile. It was equipped with an Olds 455 V8 engine that produced a staggering 365 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, if you opted for the W30 enhancements, the horsepower increased by an additional 5. This powertrain combined perfectly with a 4-speed manual transmission, propelling the vehicle to a commanding top speed of 102 mph.
