45 Abandoned Places all over the World which Are Eerily Beautiful

Gereja Ayam (“Chicken Church”), Indonesia

The “Chicken Church” at Gereja Ayam is both awesome and confusing, a dilapidated church in the jungles of central Java.”The church (built by the architect in the form of a dove-nice try!) opened in the 1990s, serving as a rehabilitation center and a place of worship for all religions; however, construction costs soon rose too high, resulting in the project-and the building-being abandoned in 2000.. Today, the foul fowl is something of a tourist attraction, with murals adorning its interior, incredible views of the surrounding forests through its beak, and even a small café selling treats next to its wings.

Tianducheng, China

The picture you see here isn’t of a post-apocalyptic Paris. Hangzhou’s Tianducheng district is a miniature replica of France’s capital located about 40 minutes away. In 2007, a massive real estate development, complete with a 300-foot Eiffel Tower and Champs-Elysées, was built.. China’s attempt to recreate the City of Light ended up being more creepy than romantic, like Paris having suddenly tumbled upside down. In contrast with its original capacity of 10,000 residents, the city now has only a couple thousands residents, and the streets are mostly empty save for those posing for photos of faux Parisian weddings.
